Cansino



Also called Sharples , a means of overcalling the opponents 1NT opening bid in which:


2   :  Shows a 3 suited hand, not short in clubs.  Could be any of 4-4-3-2, 5-4-3-1, 4-4-4-1, 5-4-4-0 types.  Strength varies with vulnerability.  Advancer can pass with 4+clubs, bid 2 with 4+ diamonds, bid 2 with tolerance for either major, or bid 2 with a good spade suit of his own.


2   : Shows 3 suited hand, short in clubs.  Advancer picks spot to play.


2   : Natural 1 suited overcall


2   : Natural 1 suited overcall


2NT:  Major/Minor 2 suited hand suitable for 3 level play


Double:  Either  2 suited minor hand OR 2 suited major hand OR strong balanced hand.  Advancer bids better minor and overcaller, with 2 suited major hand bids 2.  Any call other than 2 by the Doubler shows the good hand.
