Burgay NT Sequences

A method of responding to 1NT:

1. 2  forces opener to bid 2 , then

    - pass with a weak hand and diamonds

    - 2/2 invitational with a 5 card major

    - 2NT standard 1NT-2NT invitational sequence

    - 3/3 5 in bid minor, 4 in other minor with

       a singleton major

    - 3NT  2-2-5-4 or 2-2-4-5

    - 3 Smolen 5 spades and 4 Hearts

    - 3 Smolen 4 spades and 5 Hearts

2. 2  transfer to 2 , (opener bids 3 with a 4 card heart suit unless min 3-4-3-3), then:

    - 2 shows 4 Hearts without 4 Spades

    - 2NT shows 4 Hearts and 4 Spades

    - 3/3 shows 4 in minor and 5 Hearts

    - 3NT shows 5 Hearts, balanced hand

3. 2  transfer to 2 , (opener bids 3 with 4 spades

    unless min 4-3-3-3), then:

    - 2NT shows 4 Spades and not 4 Hearts

    - 3/3 shows 4 in minor and 5 Spades

    - 3NT balanced hand with 5 Spades

4. Other responses over 1NT:

   -  2 transfer to Clubs

   -  2NT transfer to Diamonds

   -  3///  slamish, natural 6 card+ suit

   -  3NT to play

   -  4 major 2 suited hand, longer Hearts

   -  4 major 2 suited hand, longer Spades

   -  4 minor 2 suited hand, Heart void

   -  4 minor 2 suited hand, Spade void
