Weak NT

An opening bid of 1NT showing typically 12-14 HCP in a balanced hand.  Pairs employing the Weak NT will frequently prefer Two Way Stayman to Jacoby Transfers, and will normally play some sort of Rescue Bids if doubled.

For pairs employing the Weak NT, opener's 1 of a suit opening followed by a 1NT rebid shows the next range, typically 15-17, and they will frequently bypass a 4 card major in order to bid the 1NT.  For this reason they frequently play Checkback Stayman or Two Way Checkback or New Minor Forcing, or some other variant.
