Short Club

Used mainly in systems where an opening bid of 1 of a major suit promises at least 5 cards,  and opening 1  promises 4 cards, the opening bid of 1  may be made with as few as 2 cards:

AQ54

KJ32

K32

32

Unable to open 1 , or 1  or 1  (if opening strictly 5 card majors only), playing the Short Club, this hand is opened 1

The other method is called Better Minor, in which the above hand would be opened 1 .  Playing Four Card Majors, the hand would be opened 1 .
