Ogust

After a Weak 2 opening bid, 2NT asks opener to describe their hand in terms of quality of suit, and quality of hand.

After a Weak 2 / /  opening bid and an Ogust  2NT response  - a popular treatment is:

3   - weak hand and weak suit

3   - weak hand good suit

3   - good hand weak suit

3   - good hand good suit

Some pairs may prefer to make the rebid of the opened suit the weakest bid.

Another variation called BOGUST may be played when the weak 2 opening might be made on either a good 5 card suit (2 of top 3 honors) or any 6 card suit.  In response to 2NT opener bids:

3   - 5 card suit (3 advance asks for more information)

3   - 6 card suit bad hand (or 8+ losing tricks)

3   - 6 card suit medium hand (or about 7 losing tricks)

3   - 6 card suit good hand (or about 6 losing tricks)
