Gambling 3NT

An opening bid of 3NT which promises a long running suit (usually a minor but could, by agreement be any suit), and very little outside.

The very descriptive nature of this call makes the following hands easy to bid after partner opens a Gambling 3NT with the above hand:

(A)                       (B)                         (C)

Q                       AJ76                   62

AKJ543            QJ2                     AJ32

2                        32                       3

AKQ87             A876                   KQT543

Bid 6                 Pass                      Bid 4

In (A) we can count 12 tricks and diamonds must be the suit, so we just bid the slam.  In (B) we can count 9 tricks and have the other 3 suits stopped, so 3NT is a fine spot.  In (C) we can see the spades are wide open so we must bid 4 and plan on passing partners 4  or 4 call, which may or may not make.
